SAFARI 5    by   Ben
08/06/2010   at   23:02
The new Reader button in Safari 5 works fantastically well on any fic on S2ep14.net - Especially multi-chapter fics. Give it a go, and watch the immense prettiness unfold..

In other news; development on the archive should be starting again soon. I’ve neglected S2ep14 for quite a while what with real life happenings, but things are finally settling down.

First on the list, updating the author backend to be generally much slicker. The first part of that will be making the editor play nice with Safari 4 & 5.

MY BAD    by   Ben

The rich text editor on the reviews and fic posting pages has been switched off for Safari version 2 and up. There appears to be a great big horrible bug.

Old versions of Safari will be ok, and most other browsers will still be getting it (FF, IE6+, Opera Konquerer etc.), but I need to make some pretty major modifications before letting it loose on newer versions of Safari.

So sorry about that if you’re a Safari user. My bad. I’m working on it, I promise!

BUG SPOTTING    by   Ben

So it appears Safari users can’t see the rich text editor in the review or story posting forms. This is a little annoying since it’s worked fine in Safari since 1.3.

I think it’s a problem with the browser detection not getting the right version number for some reason. I’ll have to investigate at the weekend, as there’s frolicking to be had in the meantime.

Thankfully it degrades at least somewhat gracefully at the moment.

OOPSIE DAISY    by   Ben

Fixed a bug on the text only fic pages.

Until today the text only versions of fics (which mostly people use for the text size changer and for printing, rather than an actual dislike of the pretty) had been dropping space characters at random.

This would mean occasionallywords just rantogether which made thewriter look a little incompetent, when in actuality it wasn’t their fault (not that it was mine you understand).

Anyway, the bug is now fixed, so everything is well.
